I understand John Fogerty left this project sitting on the shelf unfinished back in 1976. I also hear he ordered these tapes destroyed—well THANK GOD the record company hung onto these songs and released them for us all to enjoy today. THESE SONGS KICK THE CRAP OUT OF ANYTHING FOGERTY IS DOING LATELY, and that's not to disrespect John at all, I LOVE HIS MUSIC!!!!Let me put it this way, I HAVE LOST HEARING THE LAST 3 WEEKS LISTENING TO THIS ALBUM....FANTASTIC SONGS! ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!! THANK YOU JOHN YOU ARE A GIFT FROM GOD!!!!I even hear Jimi Hendrix say he was embarrasses by his music, thank GOD WE AREN'T !!!!!

'Hoodoo' was originally scheduled as the follow up to the John Fogerty (1975) album in 1976 and consisted of 7 original songs and 2 cover versions. It got to the stage where the album covers were printed and promo vinyl copies pressed. Both Fogerty and Asylum then had a change of heart. It was mutually decided that the album was not up to the standard expected and also a little short on the running time! It was subsequently pulled and no more was heard of it till this release. This CD is an Argentinian bootleg copy of the album utilising a vinyl source. Due to this fact, the sound is on the 'thin' side and also Fogertys production on his solo efforts tended to be stilted and lacked depth during this period of time which does not help matters when trying to get the optimum listening level! For those who can remember, the sound quality is like listening to music via a cassette tape.In addition to the album this CD contains 4 one off singles, A + B sides, which were not contained on any Fogerty album releases. My favourite of these singles is 'Comin Down The Road' b/w 'Ricochet' from 1973 which I first heard on Noel Edmonds breakfast show and I must have bought the only copy sold in the UK! Comparing the sound from that on vinyl to this copy on CD there is very little difference. This album is not for the casual listener. For the completest Creedence / Fogerty fan it is a gem! In my opinion it contains quality songs which capture the mid 70's perfectly therefore despite all the recording faults it still rates 5 stars. It's a shame that Fogerty requested Asylum to destroy the original tapes of this album in the 80's, so with that in mind, this is as good a copy you will probably get.
