WOW. This is all you need for the 48 front end. I was considering a Work setup or even the whole Progressive cartridge (both around $250 +), and I am GLAD I didn't. Nose diving during braking is all but eliminated. The bike's front end is stiffer but tracks way better than stock. No more harsh rattles when going over bumps and the rebound is smoother on the freeway at speed. I can finally get on the freeway and cruise with confidence. I did a canyon twisty ride to check the handling and it's truly, truly confidence inspiring. Barring you being a pro-racebike rider, this is a perfect compliment to the Sportster 48. My only gripe is that I WISH I DID THIS A YEAR AGO!.......It Feels great! (Keep in mind that I did also change my rear shock - to Ohlins s36e). This was the missing piece that makes my ride juuuust right.

My front end would dive like Michael Phelps whenever I would brake, if I ran over a dark line on the road, my forks would bottom out, and the ride quality was trash; NO MORE!! I just installed the Progressive Suspension Fork Springs 11-1527, and this TOTALLY changed the ride quality for a better improvement! I would recommend these springs for anyone riding a Sportster! The installation was pretty easy, just be sure you get a bike lift to take pressure off the front wheel, and SLOWLY remove the fork spring caps (nuts) the pressure almost threw one in my face! These springs are a night and day difference, and the handling is amazing, small bumps are soaked up nicely and big ones don't feel like I'm riding a bucking horse. BUY THESE SPRINGS!

I have a 2007 Harley-Davidson Sportster 883L. At least it was when I originally bought it. I've since raise the rear and front closer to the standard height.Sportsters are great bikes but they're not very comfortable stock. Especially for long trips.Swapping the stock seat for a quality aftermarket one like the Mustang Wide Touring is a start yet the suspension needs work.I have the Progressive 412 rear shocks and those help with the jarring ride at the rear. The problem with the stock front springs is they easily bottom out. Particularly with the Low front end because there is so little front travel and the stock springs are so soft.I did two things. First I replaced the shorter Low damper tubes with the longer tubes off of the 883 standard. That helped me get from 3/4" of travel to 2 1/2" of travel. That's over 3x the travel and a sizable difference. That alone wouldn't be enough. Adding the Progressive springs to the front end gives enough stiffness to the forks so as to not bottom out with every bump but enough compliance to absorb larger bumps and road imperfections.Of course you have to use the proper spacer length and fork oil weight to dial in the exact feel you want for your riding style and needs, but the main basis for the overall improvements is the springs.Installation is quite simple and can be done in well under an hour.I won't bother with all the technical reasons. I'll just bottom line it. If you want to improve your Sportster's front end, start with these Progressive springs.

Bought this for my 2006 Harley Sportster. Installed it and made the front end much more manageable. The stock spring used to bottom out on everything. I joked that the stock springs were like wet noodles, it made the bike waddle around. After installing the progressive springs, there was a huge improvement in handling bumps of all sizes and the bike felt plush. Braking performance increased as well. The only downside was this spring was a bit tall for my bike and raised the front more than I liked it.
