Star Wars - The Rise of Skywalker

I've enjoyed each of the piano solo songbooks for the sequel trilogy, and this one did not disappoint. Even if you did not care as much for the movie itself, you really gain an appreciation for the complexity of John Williams' masterful synthesis of motifs, which for me has always made Star Wars exceptional among all other movie franchises. I particularly enjoy playing the pieces "Rise of Skywalker", "Farewell", and "Reunion." "Reunion" is a very nice montage of new themes mixed in with legacy motifs like Yoda's Theme or Luke & Leia.Not all of the songs adapt as smoothly for solo piano, such as some of the more action-heavy sequences like "Speeder Chase" or "Battle of the Resistance" that were clearly intended for orchestral score. All the same, if you enjoy Star Wars or John Williams's music, this will make a fine addition to any songbook collection. Some pieces are more challenging but are still enjoyable to play after some practice.
